Cleveland, MS:  Harold Leonard Smith, 87, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2019 at the Bolivar Medical Center in Cleveland, MS.  Funeral services are 2 P.M. Wednesday, June 12 at the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Smith Cemetery near Cascilla.  Rev. Bob Hill will officiate.  Visitation is from 1-2 P.M. prior to the service.

A longtime resident of Cleveland, Harold had worked for Bob Redden Pontiac and Sledge Chevrolet prior to opening Smith Repair Shop in 1971, which he owned and operated until his retirement in 1989.  Even after retiring he kept an active interest in his business.  He loved to hunt, fish, garden and cook.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Carling McCain Smith and a son, Stanley Allen Smith, his wife Effie Nason Smith, his brothers James Smith, Sidney Smith, Howard Smith, Marion Smith, and Charles Smith, and his sisters Nell Hollingsworth, Rose Wilkerson and Lynda Rocconi.

He is survived by three sons; Leslie Eugene Smith, Jimmy Lynn Smith (Julie) and Harold Leonard Smith, Jr., all of Cleveland, a sister; Brenda Browning of Millington, TN, a Brother Adren Smith of Cleveland and six grandchildren; Matthew Smith, Pat Smith, , Spencer Smith, Alexandria Smith, all of Cleveland, MS, Michael Smith of Brandon, MS and Emily Calcote of Wiggins, MS. 


Pallbearers will be Michael Smith, Jeff Browning, Butch Smith, Wally Smith, Andrew Smith, Matt Smith, Donny Berryhil and Ricky Berryhil.  Spencer Smith will serve as an honorary pallbearer.


Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the charity of donor’s choice.
