LaNita Sue (Jones) Jones

1953 ~ 2018 (age 65)

CLEVELAND - LaNita Sue Jones, age 65, of Cleveland, MS passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at her home. 

Visitation will be held Tuesday September 25, 2018 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Cleveland Funeral Home in Cleveland. Graveside Celebration of Life Service will follow at the North Cleveland Cemetery in Cleveland, MS.  Burial will be at the North Cleveland Cemetery.  Brother Greg Jackson will officiate the service.

LaNita was born on September 21, 1953 to Paul and Sarah D. (McCain) Jones, Jr. in Anniston, AL.   She and her family moved around quite a bit with her father's employment until settling in the Cleveland MS area in 1971. She graduated Drew High School, Mississippi Delta Junior College and obtained her Master Degree in Education from Delta State University. LaNita worked with the Cleveland School District for over 32 years teaching English to the secondary students. She was given much recognition and awards during her many years of teaching. She was a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and a member of Morrison Chapel Baptist Church. LaNita loved shopping, traveling and reading Stephen King novels. LaNita was a philanthropist to many always helping where she could.

She was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Sarah D Jones, Jr.; brother, Jimmy Jones and a brother -in-law Reverend Jerry W. Creel. 

 LaNita is survived by Sister, Paula Jones Creel of Cleveland, MS; Brother, Bobby R.C. (Jane G,) Jones of Bossier City, LA; Sister-in-law, Beverly (Mark) Williams of Cleveland, MS;  Niece, Karen Creel (Derek) Ladnier of Hattiesburg, MS;  Nephew, Reed Jones of Cleveland, MS;  Nephew, Robert Jones of Bossier City, LA;  Great nieces and nephew; Ethan, Emily and Ella King, Dustin Ladnier and Brandon Ladnier. She also leaves an abundance of beloved aunts, uncles and cousins to cherish her memory.

Pallbearers are Don McCain, Robert Jones, Chris McCain, George McCain, Mike McCain, William Avritt, Mark Williams and Reed Jones. Honorary pallbearers are Phil Gillis, Bill Kirkpatrick, Emily McCain and Ethan King.
