To know Amin Jamal Azeez was to know what it really meant to be loved deeply. Born in Philadelphia on August 19, 1980, Amin built his life around the belief that family was his most precious treasure, and he lived that way until he returned to his Creator on July 18, 2026.

As the eldest of eight siblings, Amin often found himself the impromptu father of the family, carrying the weight of the entire family on his shoulders selflessly. Without fail, Amin would set aside his own dreams and comfort to make sure his family had everything they needed to move forward. He was the brother who packed up the car and drove his younger siblings to and from college, making sure they knew someone always had their back. Amin was the heart behind almost every family tradition, from the chaotic magic of taking everyone to the state fair to the night sky lighting up with his Fourth of July fireworks, lit purely to see the smiles on his family's faces.

To his core, Amin was a Muslim and a believer in the Hereafter. He had the kind of selfless heart to give others the shirt off his back. If you were down, he would give until he did not have anything left to lift you up. He loved all his siblings with humor and with a wonderous kind of intensity, sharing an unshakeable bond with his younger siblings Bilal, Rasul, and Imana.

All of Amin’s siblings knew that he was a mother’s boy through and through. His love for his mother, Taliah Azeez, was absolutewith the love they shared, being the kind of mother/first born connection that easily outlasts their worldly breaths. This lovemade manifest by the final words he left her with, a tender promise that will resonance in the hearts of all that love him: "I love you to death, ummy."

Amin’s departure leaves a massive and unfillable void, yet his love leaves an eternity imprint in the hearts of all who were blessed enough to be blessed by him. We hold tight to the warmth he gave us and hope to emulate his endless devotion to family. Those who love him are comforted by the truth that this Dunya, this worldly life, is temporary: but a brief, passing test meant to prepare us for the home that awaits us in the afterlife.

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un: To Allah we belong, and to Him we shall return. May Allah (SWT) forgive his shortcomings, illuminate his grave, and grant him the highest place in Jannat al-Firdaus.
