**In Loving Memory of Benny Eugene Horne, Sr.**
Benny Eugene Horne, Sr., age 67, of Cleveland, MS, passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at Baptist Hospital Desoto in Southaven, MS.
Born on January 3, 1958, one of 15 children to William Riley Horne and Verbie Lee Horne in Lambert, MS, Benny spent his formative years moving around the Delta, which helped him become a well-rounded and diverse individual. On September 14, 1990, he united in marriage with Renann Mechalle White, embarking on a journey filled with love and family.
Benny's professional life was marked by dedication and hard work. He began his career at Pontotoc Electric Company and later drove a pulp wood truck for Ralph McDonald. His journey also included serving as a farm manager for Fazackerley Farms and working with Jim Stone Farm and Flying Service. After 26 years with Sherwood Painting Company, he founded his own construction and painting business, "Horne's Construction," and also contributed to Kittle Apartments.
A man of many interests, Benny loved to tinker with lawn mowers and four-wheelers, enjoyed fishing, and took pride in creating unique art pieces. He cherished time spent trick-or-treating with his grandchildren, sharing laughter and joy with friends and family, and embracing the great outdoors. In his younger years, Benny had a passion for model planes and cars and delighted in taking his children shooting, fishing, and visiting the Memphis zoo.
Benny was a member of Boyle Baptist Church, where he found community and friendship.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Verbie Horne; his son, Jared Benjamin Nicholas Horne; and several brothers, including Billy Ray, Wayne, Lonnie, Larry, and Henry Horne. He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Renann Mechalle White Horne, his son Bradley Horne (Marla) of New Albany, MS, daughter Tiffany Romo Hernandez (Mario) of Cleveland, MS, son Little Ben Horne, Jr., and daughters Regina Laci Horne, and Katrina Faylene Horne, also of Cleveland, MS. Benny also leaves behind a large family that includes brothers Thomas, Timmy, Johnny, Jimmy, David, Donald, and Bobby Horne, as well as sisters Anne Taylor and Jeanette Brown (David). His legacy will continue through his grandchildren: Kaitlin Horne, Brady Horne, Isabella Contreras, Alexandria Contreras, Zoey Brooke Contreras, Gracie Horne, Ben Horne, III, Eric Horne, and Kendall Horne, along with great-grandchildren Esteban Gabriel Contreras Flores and Porter Mason Belk, Jr. Additionally, he leaves a host of nieces and nephews to honor his memory.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Cleveland Funeral Home, followed by a Celebration of Life Memorial Service at 3:00 PM in the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Reverend Perry Keys.
