Bernie Collier

 Bernie E. Collier, age 74, of Cleveland, passed away on Tuesday October 30, 2012 at Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville.  He was born on January 23, 1938 to Burnice "Shorty" and Minnie (Ray) Collier in Chester, MS.  Mr. Collier was a Choctaw County native moved to Cleveland at an early age and attended Cleveland Schools. He was a US Navy Veteran having served from 1956-1959. Upon returning from the Navy he graduated from Delta State University with a BS in Accounting. He married Marjorie McWilliams on May 01, 1964 in Linn, MS.  Bernie was a former Department of Agriculture auditor. He had also worked with John Morgan Company CPA firm, W.P. Neal accounting Firm and Calvin Hamilton Accounting Firm before opening Collier Accounting Services. He was a member of First Baptist Church Boyle, Cleveland Moose Lodge, National Society of Public Accountants, Mississippi Association of Public Accountants and the National Association of Enrolled Agents.. Mr. Collier was a loving family oriented man always doing his best to provide for his family. He loved to laugh and have a good time with those around him. He was a loving brother, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who will be missed by all who knew him.  Bernie was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters; Josephine Jennings and Eva Mae Jones. Visitation will be held Thursday November 1, 2012 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Cleveland Funeral Home.  Funeral Services will be held 2:00PM Friday November 2, 2012 at the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow in the North Cleveland Cemetery. Reverend Clarence Edwards will officiate the services.   He is survived by Wife of 48 years, Marjorie McWilliams Collier of Cleveland, MS.  Daughters Kim C. (Steve) Johnston of Cleveland and Tammy C. (Kevin) Mims of Caledonia, MS, Two sons; Alan (Vicki) Collier of Biloxi, MS and Andy Collier of Cleveland, MS. Brother, Lee Collier of Cleveland, two sisters; Erma Jean Tedford of Eldorado, AR and Mary Alice Barrentine of Yazoo City, MS. Six grandchildren Lindsey Rizzo of Cleveland, MS, Ragan Mims of Caledonia, MS, Trent Mims of Caledonia, MS Alanna Collier of Biloxi, MS, Adam and Lance Johnston both of Greenville, MS. One great grandchild Mia Johnston of Greenville, MS and a host of nieces and nephews.   Pallbearers are Jimmy McCool, James Coslet, Jerry Ainsworth, Gail Roark, Alan Collier, Steve Johnston and Kevin Mims. Honorary Pallbearer is Richard Tedford, Joe Pieroni, Alex Pieroni, Raymond Pieroni, Vincent Pieroni and Philip Pieroni.   Cleveland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
