Billy Marlow Jr., a cherished son of Ruleville, Mississippi, departed this earthly realm on May 29, 2025, leaving behind a rich legacy woven from the threads of community service, entrepreneurial spirit, and unwavering kindness. Born on January 8, 1953, in the same beloved town that would witness the flowering of his many talents, Billy embraced life with fervor, pursuing numerous ventures that showcased his versatility and dedication to both family and community.
From a young age, Billy balanced the rigors of education with labor on the family farm, instilling in him a work ethic that would define much of his career. After graduating at the top of his class from Mississippi Delta Community College's Mechanic School, he became known not only for his technical prowess but also for his ability to connect with people of all walks of life. Whether owning Billy Marlow Ford in Drew, MS, or serving as Executive Director at North Sunflower Medical Center in Ruleville, Billy poured his heart into everything he undertook.
An innovator at heart, he held the patent for a groundbreaking technology that paved the way for Delta Plastics Inc., a company specializing in the recycling of poly pipe, thereby contributing significantly to agricultural sustainability. His commitment to community development was further epitomized by his proudest accomplishments as Alderman at Large for the City of Ruleville, where he worked tirelessly to aid in the revival and growth of the area he so dearly loved.
Billy’s passions extended beyond the professional realm into the leisure of life, where he embraced the joys of hunting and fishing—the latter leading him to memorable victories at various tournaments, including the notable fortune of winning three bass boats. A devoted Elvis Presley fan, he delighted in sharing the birthday of the King, often reflecting on the serendipity that intertwined his life with the iconic artist's legacy.
The family he leaves behind includes his cherished daughters, Elizabeth Brooks Rizzo (Paul) and Lauren Whitney Marlow, both of Ruleville, as well as his step-sons William Blake Gibson (Taylor Hackney) and Nicholas Ethan Gibson, his grandchildren Rian, and Rance Rizzo, and his esteemed sister, BJ Marlow of Charlottesville, Virginia. Their collective grief is shared with a myriad of friends and community members who have been enriched by Billy's warmth and generosity.
Billy was predeceased by his loving parents, Billy Marlow Sr. and Jessie Mae Porter Marlow, as well as his spouse, Sallie Carpenter Marlow, and his latest spouse Robyn Marlow. Their memories will undoubtedly linger in the hearts of all who knew him.
In celebrating Billy Marlow Jr.'s life, we honor a man who truly loved people and dedicated himself to making a difference within his community. His heartwarming spirit will be remembered by all, punctuated by the laughter and joy he brought into the lives he touched.
