Mr. Bobby Jolly, age 89 of West Point, MS, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2026, at the Northwest Regional Medical Center in Clarksdale, MS.
Bobby was born April 1, 1937, to Morrison Jolly and Alta Woods Jolly in Okolona, MS. He attended Okolona Schools and worked on the family farm as a teenager. He enlisted in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After returning home from the war, he married the love of his life, Ruby Brents, on February 2, 1957. Bobby began his working career in the trucking industry, driving for several furniture companies and working in the furniture factories. In 1972, he went to work as a correctional officer for the Mississippi State Penitentiary in Parchman. He obtained the rank of Major and retired from MDOC in 1985. After retirement, he returned to trucking, owning his own trucks and serving his customers well. Bobby loved raising and racing sprint horses, gardening, and spending time with his family.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Morrison and Alta Jolly, brother Jim Jolly, sisters Martha McKissack and Jackie Brand, and a granddaughter, Morgan Summer Jolly. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Ruby Brents Jolly, of West Point, MS, and daughter Karen Francis Wehnau (Russ) of New Mexico, daughter Terry Ann Rudnicke (Mike) of Corinth, MS, son Bobby Franklin Jolly (Judy) of Cleveland, MS, grandchildren, Leslie Boone (Paul) of Corinth, MS, Andy Smith, Corinth, MS, Nathan Jolly of Batesville, MS, Courtney Brennan (Jay) of Brandon, MS, Matthew Jolly (Haley) of Cleveland, MS, 7 great grandchildren, Jacob Bradley (Allie), Madisyn Boone, Julie Moseley, Logan Moseley, Sylar Brennan, Joseph Jolly and Thomas Jolly as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM Saturday, July 18, 2026 at Cleveland Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will follow at 3:00 PM in the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel.
