Brenda Williams Hays, 81, of Cleveland MS went to be with Christ on Monday, September 18, 2023, surrounded by her family at the Bolivar Medical Center.
Brenda was born February 26, 1942 to Lonnie James Williams and Estelle M. Parham Williams in Joiner, AR. She graduated Shelby High School in Shelby, MS. She worked at Big Star many years as a cashier where many remember her outgoing personality when coming to the store. She attended Yale Street Baptist Church and later, tuned in to services online in her later years.
Brenda gained many special titles in her life such as "Mama", "Granny" and lastly, "Gigi". She loved her children, loved her grandchildren more and loved her great grandson even more. She treasured her family and her friends. Anyone who met Brenda knew how she cared for her family and for others.
Brenda enjoyed cooking, tending to her plants, worrying about her yard, watching General Hospital, shopping, sewing and spending time with her friends and family. She always wanted to make sure her family and others were taken care of above herself. She will always be remembered for the way she loved others.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents; Lonnie and Estelle Williams; brother, Jimmy Williams and sister, Joyce Williams.
She is survived by her son, Johnny Hays (Leigh) of the Woodlands, TX and daughter, Debbie Hays Esch of Cleveland, MS; brother, Bob Williams (Nancy); grandchildren, Courtney Swart (Wessel) of Skene, MS, Taylor Simutis (Tommy) of Houston, TX, Cooper Hays of the Woodlands, TX and Cannon Esch of Cleveland, MS; and her beloved great grandson, Johannes Swart.
Visitation will be held Wednesday September 20, 2023 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Cleveland Funeral Home. Interment will be held Thursday, September 21, 2023 at 1:00 PM in the Clarksdale Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Clarksdale, MS. Her brother Bob Williams will officiate the service.
Cleveland Funeral Home has been entrusted with service arrangements.
