After serving his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, he returned to the south and attended Mississippi State, earning his degree in mechanical engineering. Although he had humble beginnings in the Delta cotton fields, he ended his career in the space industry, placing GPS satellites into orbit from Cape Canaveral. What a journey! He had a dry sense of humor, loved a good joke, and could always be heard singing his favorite tunes. He loved Chick-fil-A and ice cream, or really anything sweet! He will be greatly missed by his loving family.
Preceded in death by his parents, Ab Lee and Ida Bell Moreland; his brothers, Lloyd Harold Moreland and Jack Henry Moreland; his grandson, Joey Moreland; and the love of his life for 62 years, Margaret Anneita Biggers Moreland. He is survived by his children, Dr. Connie Hedges of Huntingdon, TN, Glenda Barkate (James) of Metairie, LA, and Lloyd Harold Moreland II (Erin) of Tampa, FL. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Ronnie Redmann III, Dr. Temple Steele, Charles Hedges, Summer String, Cassie Moreland, Meghan O’Connor, and Brennan O’Connor, and many great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
