Charles DeWayne Roberson, age 72, of Boyle, MS, peacefully passed away on January 16, 2026, at the Bolivar Medical Center in Cleveland, MS.

Born on September 25, 1953, to Wess Roberson and Rosie Gilbert Roberson in Bolivar County near the Bouge River, Charles was a proud graduate of the Rosedale High School class of 1972. where he played football. His class was the class that changed the mascot to the Eagles and the Red, White, and Blue under Leland Young.

On November 16, 1979, he married Virginia Askew at Shaw Baptist Church, creating a loving partnership that spanned over 46 years. Upon graduating, Charles dedicated his career to Wheeler Farms, where he worked for an impressive 53 years. He had a deep passion for agriculture, particularly enjoying the planting and harvest seasons, and found joy in driving the combine.

Beyond his professional life, Charles was known for his love of family and his many hobbies. He cherished taking road trips to casinos with family, enjoyed fishing, and had a talent for fixing old cars and tinkering with lawnmowers and various small projects. He was especially devoted to his grandchildren, taking great pride in attending their sporting events and supporting their endeavors.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Wess and Rosie Gilbert Roberson; siblings, Billy Harold Roberson and Robert Earl Roberson; grandson Clayton Bastari; and grandmother Betty Gilbert. He is survived by his beloved wife, Virginia Askew Roberson; daughters Amanda Roberson Bastari (Daniel) of Boyle, MS, and Gwendolyn Roberson Clemons of Cleveland, MS; siblings Annette Livingston of Huntsville, AL, Johnny Roberson (Becky) of Pace, MS, and Pat Lewis (AO) of Cleveland, MS; as well as grandchildren Presley Roberson, Hannah Clemmons, Deanna Clemons, Autumn Clemons, Jacob Ryan Bastari, and Keller Bastari. As well as a brother by choice Nott Wheeler.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 19, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Cleveland Funeral Home, followed by a Celebration of Life Funeral Service at 1:00 PM in the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Reverend Chris Gentry. Charles will be laid to rest in Beulah Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Jim Flemings, Daniel Bastari, Chase Gilbert, Wheeler Brister, Rob Roberson, Elvis Roberson, Jacob Ryan Bastari, Jeremy Dycus, and Adam Brasfield. Honorary pallbearers are Michael Scott Usery, Robert Usery, Knott Wheeler, Jr., AO Lewis, Mark Chisolm, Billy Chisolm, Tommy Robinson, and Johnny Roberson.

The family extends special thanks to Dr. Steven Clark, Marybeth Warington, Brantley Bassie, Maghan Ashmore, and all the staff at Bolivar Medical Center for their compassionate care during this time.
