Charles Ray Williams, Sr.

GRENADA - Charles Ray Williams, Sr., age 72, of Grenada, MS passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2019. at his home.  
 Visitation will be held Saturday, December 14, 2019, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Cleveland Funeral Home in Cleveland, MS.  Celebration of Life Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 AM in the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will be at the Delta Heights Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Cleveland, MS. Brother Rick Milan will officiate the services.

Charles Ray was born on May 03, 1947, to George Marshall and Myrtle (Tunberg) Williams in Tutwiler, MS. He attended Dublin Schools, Mississippi Delta Community College, and Delta State University. Charles Ray was a carpenter by trade and then became an Occupational Instructor at the Mississippi Department of Corrections in Parchman for 17 years. After his retirement he continued with his construction business, renovating many homes. Charles Ray enjoyed anything outdoors hunting, fishing, and on occasion, frying up some catfish for his family. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Myrtle Williams, nine siblings, Robert Williams, Irvin Williams, Eli Williams, George Williams, Geneva Sims, Mildred Atcher, Ruth James, Mary Woods, and Faye Cook.

 He is survived by wife of 45 years, Sandra Yarbrough Williams of Tutwiler, MS.  Son, Charles Ray (Rosemary) Williams, Jr. of LaPorte, TX.  Son, Robert Wesley Williams of Tutwiler, MS.  Daughter, Laquita W. (Timbo) Sandifer of Boyle, MS. and daughter, Avonda (Harvey) Carpenter of Grenada, MS. He also leaves four grandchildren, Megan Williams, Charles Williams, III, Hope Sandifer, Ethan Sandifer and a host of nieces and nephews to cherish his memory.

Pallbearers are C. J. Williams, III, Bobby Williams, Tommy Pugh, Parker Pugh, Ethan Sandifer and Melvin Burchfield.
