Connie Wooten Moon

Connie Wooten Moon age 71 of Cleveland passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at the Baptist Hospital in Jackson, MS.
Visitation will be held Friday April 1, 2016 from 6:00 PM till 8:00 PM at Cleveland Funeral Home and 10:00 AM till 10:45 at First Baptist Church Ruleville. A Celebration of Life service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday April 2, 2016 at the First Baptist Church Ruleville. Burial will follow in the Lehrton Cemetery in Ruleville, MS. Reverend Mike Stovall and Reverend Darrell Bone will officiate the service.
Connie was born August 17, 1944 to Willie E. and Frances Myers Wooten in Topeka Kansas. She graduated from Seama High School in Topeka, KS. She worked at the Mecca Drive Inn in Ruleville with her parents for many years and sold it in 1978. Connie retired from the Mississippi State Department of Corrections where she served as food distributor. She was the former owner of the Oasis Bar and Grill and several other business adventures which were usually 2 or 3 at a time. Connie reopened the Mecca in Cleveland in 2004. She was formerly known as C J the D J but now she is DJing for the Lord. She was a member of Country Creek Church in Brandon, MS where she served as the music director. She loved to fish, camp, cooking out and going to church. Connie loved her family and her many friends. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents Willie and Frances Wooten, brother B J Wooten, and adopted son Daniel Wood.
Connie is survived by her two sons; Les (Nancy) Moon of Cleveland, MS, Rodney "Hot Rod" (Wendy) Moon of Cleveland, MS. Four grandchildren; Ryan Moon, Mallory Moon, Dillon Moon and Colton Moon. Sister-in-Law Wanda Hudson Wooten of Cleveland, MS. Friend and caregiver Pat Reynolds, best friends Ric and Faye Womack and her 3 nephews; Chris Hudson, Ben (Mary Kathryn) Wooten and Matthew Wooten, and several great nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Chris Hudson, Will Cox, Michael Dill, Derick Pennington, James Staples and John Paul Yates.
Honorary pallbearers are; Colton Moon, Mallory Moon, Beverly Bills, Ryan Moon, Dillon Moon, Matthew Wooten and Ben Wooten
