David Lee Ray, age 42, of Cleveland, died on Thursday August 06, 2009 at Bolivar Medical Center. He was born on July 19, 1967 to Charles and Edith Huskey Ray in Jackson, MS. Mr. Ray attended Shaw, MS schools. He married Betty Andrews Ray on September 06, 1985 in Shaw, MS. Mr. Ray was a former oil field worker and had owned and operated D & R Trucking. He worked for Bayou Pipeline Farms before he became ill and retired. He enjoyed working and loved his family very much, always giving them his attention and affection. He also loved driving race cars and was a very talented driver. He was a Baptist.
Mr. Ray was preceded in death by his father Charles William Ray and brother William Earl Ray.
Visitation will be held Friday 08/07/2009 from 06:00 PM ~ 08:00 PM at the Cleveland Funeral Home in Cleveland. Funeral Services will be held Saturday 08/08/2009 10:00 AM at Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Linn Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Joe Young will officiate the service. Cleveland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by wife of 23years, Betty Andrews Ray of Cleveland, MS; Mother, and Step-Father Edith (Huskey) and Ray Downs, Sr. of Merigold, MS; Son, David Ray, Jr. of Cleveland, MS; 3 Daughters, Emily Ray, Wendy Clark and Jamie Irby all of Cleveland, MS; Five Sisters, Peggy Reed of Drew, MS, Peggy Light of Warren, AR, Mary Ann Downs of Warren, AR, Judy Russell of Monahans, TX, and JoAnn Salazar of Doddsville, MS; Five Brothers, Billy Downs of Monahans, TX, Bobby Downs of Merigold, MS, and Charles Ray both of Merigold, MS, Roy Downs, Jr. of Monahans, TX, Randy Downs both of Monahans, TX and 5 Grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be B.J. Irby, R.J. Clark, Jerry Irby, Adam Ray, Timothy Downs and James Huskey. Honorary pallbearers are Billy Downs, R.G. Leopard, Jr., Bobby Irby, and J.T. Leopard.
