Dorothy Ann Nassar

Dorothy Ann Tackett Nassar age 84 of Merigold, MS passed away Thursday September 3, 2026 at her home.

Visitation will be held 1:00 P M until 2:00 PM Tuesday September 8, 2026 at Cleveland Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life Memorial Service will follow in the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Bob Hill will officiate the service.

Born April 26, 1942 in Lonoke AR to Vernie and Opal Tackett.  Moved to Mississippi at age 2 and grew up on a farm in Quitman county just outside of Clarksdale.  Chopped and picked cotton while at home.  Loved all kinds of sports, especially basketball, which she excelled at.  Her older brother Roy worked with her on her basketball skills and she played for Lambert High School.  

Married Billy Nassar on November 11, 1960.  She worked as a bank teller for Bank of Shelby, Sunburst Bank and Trustmark in Leland.  She loved to cook, work in the yard, and troll for crappie on the pontoon boat at Enid Reservoir.  

She is preceded in death by her husband Billy Nassar, and son Jeff Nassar, two sisters, Ashia and Johnnie Faye, and a brother Danny.  

She is survived by her son Dean (Nancy), David, and grandson Brandon (Megan).  Her brother Donald (Betty), her brother Roy (Faye), and sister Sue and sister in law, Rachel Tackett.  A daughter in law Denise Nassar and her sons Dray and Dexter.   Also  a host of nieces and nephews.

Dorothy wanted her service to be a celebration of her life, not a solemn affair.

Special thanks to her son David for the special care for the past eight months of her illness.  Special thanks to Heart of Hospice for their special care during her final time.
