Elmer McDaniel

Elmer Leo McDaniel, age 69, of Shaw, passed away on Thursday October 7, 2010 at his home.  He was born on August 07, 1941 to Gardner and Jimmie (Carroll) McDaniel in Moorhead, MS. Mr. McDaniel grew up in Moorhead and graduated from Moorhead High School and Sunflower Community College. He married Mavis Ferguson McDaniel on August 18, 1969 in Sunflower County.  He was a self employed contractor and a licensed auctioneer. Mr. McDaniel devoted his life to his family. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents Elmer and Irene Carroll, Mary Jane Cantrell and Ferd McDaniel.  Visitation will be held Friday October 8, 2010 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Cleveland Funeral Home in Cleveland.  Funeral Services will be held Saturday October 9, 2:00 PM at the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Shaw, MS. Reverend Bobby Jolly and Reverend James Wilkerson will officiate the services. Mr. McDaniel is survived by wife of 41 years, Mavis Ferguson McDaniel of Shaw, MS.  Mother, Jimmie Carroll McDaniel of Houston, MS.  Daughter, Debra  and husband Ray West of Drew, MS. 3 Sons; Elmer Leo "Bubba" McDaniel, Jr. of Tupelo, MS, Roy and wife Stephanie Willis of Greenville, MS, Gardner Leo "Mann" and wife Patty McDaniel of Indianola, MS.  3 Brothers;  Garland and wife Mary McDaniel of Houston, MS, Andy and wife Betty McDaniel of Houston, MS, George and  wife Gladys McDaniel of Houston, MS. 2 Sisters, Eva and husband Thomas Howarth of Cleveland, MS, Lalene Henry of Houston, MS.  6 grandchildren; Bo Medders of Drew, MS, Amber Willis of Greenville, MS, Tyler West of Southaven, MS, Victoria McDaniel of Indianola, MS, Robert Willis of Greenville, MS, Anna McDaniel of Indianola, MS.  and a Great Granddaughter, Ansleigh West of Southaven, MS. Pall-bearers are Jimmy Ferguson, Kenneth Ferguson, John Ferguson, James Ferguson, Danny Tharp and Ishmell "Mr. Babe" Catchings. Honorary pall-bearer is Wayne Ferguson. Memorials may be made to the Jackson Heart Clinic 1040 River Oaks Dr # 103 Flowood, MS 39232-9531 in honor of Dr.Jeff Fletcher. Cleveland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
