Floyd Fuqua,

April 4, 1927 — September 1, 2013

Cleveland- Floyd Edgar Fuqua, Jr. age 86 of Cleveland passed away Sunday September 1, 2013 at the Joy Health and Rehabilitation Center in Cleveland.
Visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 PM Tuesday September 3, 2013 at Cleveland Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Drew City Cemetery. Reverend Jimmy Breland and Milton Byrd will officiate the service. 
Mr. Fuqua was born April 4, 1927 to Floyd Edgar, Sr. and Myrtle Fuqua in Memphis, TN. He graduated from Drew High School and attended Delta State University. He enlisted in the US Navy from 1946-1947 where he was stationed in Hawaii and worked in the postal service. On August 25, 1947 he married Jacqueline B. Fuqua. He and his family made their home in Rosedale for many years.
Floyd was a former tool and dye technician for Alabama Metal Products in Rosedale. He retired in 1991 from the Bolivar County Sheriff Department were he had been the Jail Administrator. After his retirement he and Jacqueline moved to Cleveland. He worked as a greeter and garden specialist for Wal-Mart. Floyd was also a former security guard for Dixie Tobacco Company in Shaw.
While living in Rosedale he was a member and Deacon of First Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge 463 and The Order of Eastern Star where he served as Worthy Patron. He was currently a Member of First Baptist Church Cleveland.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter Jacqueline Dawn Fuqua, Grandson, James Wesley "Wes" Fuqua, two sisters and one brother. 
He is survived by wife of 66 years Jacqueline "Jackie" B. Fuqua of Cleveland, MS, daughter Paula F. (Mike) Thompson of Gunnison, MS, son Floyd "Ed" Edgar (Shelia) Fuqua, III of Clarksdale, MS, daughter Paige F. Steen of Jackson. Four grandchildren Michael "Mat" Thompson, III, of Austin, TX, Dawn Thompson of Jackson, MS, Floyd Edgar "Chip" (Amy) Fuqua, IV of Birmingham, AL and Georgia J. Steen of Birmingham, AL. Three great grandchildren; Liam Thompson of Austin, TX, Marcus Thompson of Austin, TX and Floyd "Edgar" Fuqua, V of Birmingham, AL. He also leaves his canine companion "Dottie".
Pallbearers are Michael "Mat" Thompson, III, Floyd Edgar "Chip" Fuqua, Kenny Carpenter, Floyd Arbuckle, Randy Hales and William Carpenter.
Honorary pallbearers are Julius Gainspoletti, James Lunford and Mike Thompson
