Glenn W. Holloway

Glenn Wiggins Holloway, Sr., died April 17, 2018 at his home in Merigold, MS. He was born in Indianola, MS on March 10, 1928, the son of Balfour and Annie Ruth Holloway. He was employed by Lewis Grocer Company and Indianola Motor Company. He traveled for Stratton-Warren Hardware, Festus Brothers Hardware, and Southern Hardware Company, from where he retired in 2000.

Glenn was a graduate of Indianola High School where he was an outstanding member of the basketball, baseball, and track teams. He joined the National Guard after graduating from high school, served in the United States Army and received an Honorable Discharge in January 1957, as a Sergeant First Class, Dixie Division, Service Battery, 114th Field Artillery Unit.

He is preceded by his death by his parents; three sisters Marjorie Maddox, Jeanine Hanson, and Louise Franklin, and four brothers, James, Durmont, Cecil, and James Balfour (Chester) Holloway, Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Ellen Stafford Holloway; two sons, Glenn Jr. (Cymantha), John Stafford (Jessica); five grandchildren, Glenn III (Mary Alice), Leslie Carroll (Dustin), Josh Reed, John Stafford Holloway, Jr., and Greyson Holloway; a great granddaughter, Payton Carroll, one brother, Allen (Buster) Holloway, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Glenn has donated his body to the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) Body Donation Program for anatomical study, research, and the advancement of medical sciences.

The family will receive friends Friday, April 20, 2018 from 10:00 AM till 11:00 AM at Calvary Baptist Church in Cleveland, MS. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 11:00 AM. Reverend Jimmy Woods and Reverend Larry Braswell will officiate the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be made to either the Delta State University Foundation Glenn and Mary Stafford Endowed Scholarship, P O Box 3141, Cleveland, MS, 38733, or to the Dorsett Drive Christian Church, P O Box 488, Indianola, MS 38751.
