CLEVELAND - Hal P. Kirk, age 69, of Cleveland, died on Friday, February 13, 2009 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto in Southaven. He was born on March 08, 1939 to E. L. and Elizabeth (Gwin) Kirk in Sallis, MS. Mr. Kirk spent most of his life in Belzoni, MS and graduated from Belzoni High School. He was a Mississippi State University graduate with a BS in Agricultural Business. After graduation he worked for Mississippi Chemical Company in Yazoo City and was a member of the Mississippi Air Force National Guard. On June 20, 1967 he married Mary Kirkpatrick in Sarasota, FL. In 1970 Hal and his family moved to Cleveland where he worked for the John Hancock Life Insurance Company in the agricultural investment division as a loan officer until his retirement in 1989. After his retirement he worked for The Bolivar Commercial as a paper carrier and was currently employed with 4H Construction in Cleveland. Mr. Kirk was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he was a former deacon and elder, he was also a former member of the Cleveland Lions Club. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at 12:00 PM in the Westminster Room until 1:00 PM at which time the service will take place in the sanctuary at First Presbyterian Church in Cleveland, MS. Burial will be at Concord Baptist Church in Little Yazoo, MS the same day at 4:00 PM. Dr. Sid Harmon will officiate the services and Cleveland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements Hal is survived by his wife, Mary Kirkpatrick Kirk of Cleveland, MS, two daughters; Stacie Harris (Jim) of Cleveland, Allison Harris (Alex) of Southaven, and a son Robert Kirk (Tammie) of Starkville, three grandchildren; Rebecca Anderson and Zachary Harris of Southaven and Chandler Harris of Cleveland. Pallbearers will be Billy Davis, Oliver Greenhaw, Jim Harris, Sr., Herbie Kirk, Marshall Reddick and Lee White. Honorary Pallbearers are Ben Griffith, Raymond Kirk, Randy McCormick, Mitchell Pearson, David Walt and Hal's brothers-in-law; Steve, Bob, Tom and Jim Kirkpatrick. Memorials may be made to the Landscape Fund at First Presbyterian Church 1100 Hwy 8 West, Cleveland, MS 38732
