BOYLE - James Andrew Dykes, age 90, of Skene, MS, passed away on Wednesday September 03, 2014 at the North Sunflower Hospital in Ruleville.
Visitation will be held Friday 09/05/2014 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Cleveland Funeral Home in Cleveland. Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday 09/06/2014 11:00 AM at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sledge, MS. Reverend Keith Bolen will officiate the service.
James was born on March 24, 1924 to James Dovey and Nellie Dykes in Pontotoc, MS. He was married to the Nettie Thacker Dykes. Mr. Dykes was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of Lula Baptist church. He loved to fish and work in his garden. He loved his children and grandchildren and was always willing to spend time with them. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Nettie Thacker Dykes, 2 brothers and 5 sisters.
He is survived by son, William Andy (Nell) Dykes of Sledge, MS. Son, Earl Dykes of Cleveland, MS. Daughter, Pearl (Jimmy) Fuller of Sledge, MS. Son, Eugene (Judy) Dykes of Brookhaven, MS. Son, Billy Ray (Rosie Ray) Dykes of Cleveland, MS. Son, Danny Leon (Janice) Dykes, Sr. of Cleveland, MS. Daughter, Joanne (Bill) Scruggs of Yellville, AR. 12 Grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Pallbearers will be his sons; William, Earl, Eugene, Billy, Danny Dykes and a grandson Danny Dykes Jr.
