James Wesley Litton, age 79, of Shaw, Mississippi, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2026, at the home of his son in Hernando, Mississippi.
Born on January 22, 1947, in Shaw, James was the son of William Wesley Litton and Margaret Tarver Litton. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, achieving the rank of Sergeant. On March 26, 1967, he married the love of his life, Gerda Schraufstetter, and together they built a beautiful family and shared 59 devoted years.
James worked as a systems technician with AT&T for 43 years. Known for his steady hands and sharp mind, he could fix or build just about anything. He loved tractors — collecting them, restoring them, and talking about them — but nothing brought him more joy than time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great‑grandchildren. He was a family man in every sense of the word.
James was preceded in death by his parents, William and Margaret Litton; siblings Paula Litton, Joe Litton, Clyde Litton, and Ertice Litton; and a great‑grandchild, McKenzie Goodman.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gerda S. Litton of Shaw, MS; daughters Teresa L. Nichols (Keith) of Dalton, GA, and Bianca L. Bordelon (Trey) of Lake Park, GA; sons James W. Litton II (Ashley) of Hernando, MS, and Jamey W. Litton (Memrie) of Cleveland, MS; sister Sue Sullivan (David) of Cleveland, MS; sisters‑in‑law Jennifer Litton and Celeste Maletesta; grandchildren Heather Nichols, Joey Bordelon (Kendal), Deven Bordelon, Allie Litton, Joe Litton, and Laney Litton; great‑grandchildren Adam Headrick, Lincoln Bordelon, and Hollyn Bordelon; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Cleveland Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 1:00 PM in the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will take place in Litton Cemetery. Reverend Steve Hugley will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Brad Litton, Earl Litton, David Sullivan II, Joe Litton, Trey Bordelon, and Joey Bordelon. Honorary pallbearers include Charles Boyles and Tommy Couey.
Cleveland Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of James’s family during this difficult time.
