Jan Darlyn Christensen

June 15, 1943 — January 18, 2018

CLEVELAND - Janet Stoy Christensen, age 74, of Cleveland, passed peacefully in her sleep on Thursday January 18, 2018 at her home.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 23, 2018 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Cleveland Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church in Cleveland, MS. The Rev. Michael McLaughlin will officiate the service.

Jan was born on June 15, 1943 to Herbert and Ida(Ramm) Stoy in Philadelphia, PA. She attended Delaware Township High School in Cherry Hill, NJ. Jan married Robert Roy Christensen on November 29, 1980 in Haddonfield, NJ.  They have been in the Cleveland Community since 1985. Jan had been a secretary for Cleveland Loans, Inc. for 20 years. She was a member of the Business & Professional Woman's Club and was awarded Woman of the Year. She was a Girl Scout co-leader. Jan was also a member of First Presbyterian Church where she was a member of the Chancel Choir for 26 years. She also served as a Sunday School teacher and helped with the children's choir. She was the PW Coordinating Team Secretary, Christian Nurture and Presbyterian Day School maid. Jan loved to sing, knitting, needlepoint, sewing and traveling.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents Herbert and Ida May Stoy, her daughter Valerie Rae Christensen, her cousin John Theodore Griffith and a grandson Adam Scott Schloendorn.

Jan is survived by Husband of 37 years, Robert Christensen of Cleveland, MS;  Son, John(Karen) Schloendorn of Williamsburg, VA;  Son, Adam(Melissa) Schloendorn of Fayetteville, NC;  Daughter, Judith Churchill of St. Joseph, MO;  Son, Matthew Schloendorn of Williamsburg, VA;  Daughter, Ida Whitehouse of Palm Bay, FL;  Brother, Robert Stoy of Boonton, NJ;  Cousin-in-law, Mona Griffith of Crisfield, MO;  Grandson, Jesse Christensen of Cleveland, MS as well as 38 other grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Ed Coleman, Rodney Defenbaugh, Bill Defenbaugh, Wilson Sledge, Ryan Rosson and Jose Nohemie.
