CLEVELAND - Jane Carole Schroer Griffith Thompson, age 61, of Cleveland, MS, passed away on Sunday October 16, 2011 at the Bolivar Medical Center. She was born on June 20, 1950 to Clinton and Olinda (Bauche) Schroer in Washington, MO. Jane grew up in Warren County MO and attended Warrenton High School and Jefferson City Business College and received a bachelors' degrees from Delta State University. In 1970 she married Phillip Griffith. She was a former Community Federal Savings Loan officer in Mexico, MO and in 1981 transferred to the Kirksville, MO office as assistant manager, where she met and married Micheal Thompson. In 1993 she and her family moved to Memphis, TN where she worked as a loan officer until moving to Cleveland in 1996, at which time, she became employed by Cleveland State Bank as a loan officer. She was currently serving as Vice-President and Bank Compliance Officer. She was an Elder at the First Presbyterian Church, a member of the "I Can Cope" cancer support group and actively involved in Relay for Life. She was an ambassador for M.D. Anderson Clinic in Houston, TX, a member of the Quilting Guild, a Margaret Green Junior High mentor, Lion's Club Member and a former national president of the Quota Club in Kirksville, MO. Jane was a cancer survivor and was actively involved in supporting others with cancer. She was preceded in death by her father Clinton Arthur Schroer and first husband Phillip Griffith. A Celebration of Life service will be held Wednesday October 19, 2001 1:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church in Cleveland, MS the family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Westminster Room. The Rev, Walt Griffith and Dr. Sid Harmon will officiate local arrangements. A second funeral service will be held 10:00AM Saturday October 22, 2011 at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Holstein , MO. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Jeanne Lischer will officiate services. Pallbearers will be Carl Schroer, Shawn Schroer, Ben Schroer, Daniel Schroer, Brad Mutert and Brian Mutert. She is survived by husband, Micheal Thompson of Cleveland, MS. Mother, Olinda Bauche Schroer of Washington, MO. Two daughters, Stephanie Kemp of Memphis, TN. and Jennifer Grassham of Hobbs, NM. Sister, Joyce ( Gary ) Mutert of Holts Summit , MO. Three brothers, Thomas (Debbie) Schroer of Marthasville, MO, Charles (Jeanne) Schroer of Marthasville, MO, Cliff (Scott) Schroer of Kansas City, MO. Two granddaughters, Neysa Kemp of Memphis, TN and Emily Townsend of Hobbs, NM. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, First Presbyterian Church Choir Fund 1100 Hwy 8 Cleveland, MS 38732, or Immanuel United Church of Christ Cemetery Fund.
