John Canonici

John Joseph Canonici, age 66, of Shaw, died on Thursday August 12, 2010 at the V A Medical Center in Jackson.  He was born on June 24, 1944 to Joseph A. and Louise (Gainspoletti) Canonici in Shaw, MS. John was raised in Shaw and graduated from Shaw Schools. He obtained a BA Degree in accounting from Delta State University.  He married Wilda  Williams on September 07, 1968 in Cheyenne, WY. John spent four years with the US Air Force where he obtained the rank of Sergeant.  He and Wilda returned to Shaw in 1975. They Owned and operated Midway Super Market for 18 years. He currently owned and operated Midway Equipment and Refrigeration. John served his community for many years and presently held a Shaw Board of Alderman Seat. He was preceded in death by his mother, Louise (Gainspoletti).  Visitation will be held Monday  August 16, 2010 from 12:00 noon until funeral service time at 2:00 PM at the St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Shaw.  Interment will be at the Shaw Cemetery. Father Tom Mullally and Father Piaus Lawe will officiate the service. Pall bearers are Tim Conico, Klint Fausnight, Randy Cantrell, Keith Bumpous, Gardner McDaniel and Roy Willis.   He is survived by Wife, Wilda Williams Canonici of Shaw MS; Father, Joseph A. Canonici of Shaw, MS;  Son, Nick J. Canonici of Pocomoke, MD;  Daughter, Shannon Bumpous of Coldwater, MS; Brother, David Canonici of Biloxi, MS;  Brother, Michael Canonici of West Helena, AR;  Sister, Patricia Plese of Henderson, NV; Sister, Elizabeth Duff of Belle Glade, FL;  Sister, Monica Tedford of Bolton, MS, 9 grandchildren and uncle Paul Canonici of Madison, MS. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718. Cleveland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
