John D. Griffin

CLEVELAND - John Douglas Griffin, Sr. age 69, of Cleveland, passed away on Tuesday June 28, 2016 at the Allegiance Specialty Hospital in Greenville, MS. He was born on April 04, 1947 to John T "Leon" and Olene (Collins) Griffin in Cleveland. Doug was a lifelong resident of Cleveland and graduated Cleveland High School. He married Rita Diane Davis Griffin. He was a boiler operator for Baxter Laboratories until his hunting accident in 1984. He also worked at the CRA in Cleveland for many years. Doug's passion was hunting and fishing. He was a member of Yale Street Baptist Church.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents John and Olene Griffin and his wife Rita Diane Griffin. Visitation will be held Friday July 1, 2016 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Cleveland Funeral Home in Cleveland. Memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM in the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Tim Starnes will officiate the service.
Doug is survived by Son, John Douglas (Michelle) Griffin, Jr. of Wichita Falls, TX. Son, Jeffery Shane (Allison) Griffin of Cleveland, MS. Brother, Murray Griffin of Cleveland, MS. Brother, David Griffin of Cleveland, MS. Sister, Carol Camp of Cleveland, MS. Five grandchildren, Josh Cupp, Bryan Griffin, Ashleigh Griffin, Jeffery Shane Griffin, Jr. and Avery Anne Griffin.

Honorary pallbearers are his grandchildren, Josh Cupp, Bryan Griffin, Ashleigh Griffin, Jeffery Shane Griffin, Jr. and Avery Anne Griffin and his friends Marcie Mullins and Mike Baker.
