John Winford Tedford
CLEVELAND- John Winford Tedford, age 83, of Cleveland, MS, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2020, at the North Sunflower Hospital in Ruleville, MS. He was born on September 28, 1936, to Duke and Ruth (Murphree) Tedford in Skeen, MS. He was married to the late Cloyce Singleton Tedford. John was a former Baxter Laboratory employee and had owned and operated Tedford’s Grocery, Tedford’s Service Station, The Handi Mart and John Tedford Auto Sales all in Merigold, MS. John spent his life working hard to provide for his family, he also loved to fish and hunt when he could. John had also served for a number of years in the Mississippi Army National Guard. He was a member of Merigold Baptist Church for many years.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Duke and Ruth Tedford, wife Cloyce Tedford, brothers Otha Tedford, Earl Tedford, Wade Tedford, Eric Tedford, and Clarence Tedford.
Visitation will be held Sunday, February 2, 2020, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Cleveland Funeral Home in Cleveland. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 PM in the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at the North Cleveland Cemetery. Reverend Jack Moore will officiate the services.
He is survived by Daughter, Phyllis Tedford (Knox) Purnell of Olive Branch, MS. Son, David (Mylinda) Tedford of Cleveland, MS. Sister Gladys Jones of Cleveland, MS. 5 Grandchildren, Parker (Casey) Noblin, Jessica Tedford, Presley Purnell, and Kristy McClain. Three great-grandchildren Chloe Parker, Nathan McClain, and Ryan McClain.
Pallbearers will be Mark Singleton, Ekward Gong, Joey Tedford, Bernnie Jones, Scott Fuquay, and Parker Noblin.
Memorials may be made to St Jude Children's 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.

Im sorry for your loss. John Tedford was a good man who always treated us local Merigold kids with kindness. He was a true gentleman.
