Joseph D." Joel

CLEVELAND - Joseph "J. D." Joel, Jr. age 93, of Cleveland , died on Monday July 02, 2012 at the home.  He was born on March 10, 1919 to Joseph and Beulah Land Joel, Sr. in Carson Lake , AR.  He married Bonnie Vowell Joel on February 11, 1945 they were married 61 years.  Mr. Joel attended Cleveland High School and enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 18. He was a 1st Mechanic's Mate in WW II.  J.D.  retired from Baxter in 1979 after 22 years of service. He was a Member of Cleveland Church of Christ. His hobbies included woodworking and machine work. Mr. Joel was a loving father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his Parents Joseph and Beulah Land Joel and step mother Viola Sumerall Joel, wife Bonnie Joel, and a daughter-in-law Frances Joel, Three brothers Charles Joel, Johnny Joel, Paul Land and sister Virginia Land. Visitation will be held Thursday July 5, 2012 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM at the Cleveland Funeral Home.  Funeral Services will follow at 2:00PM in the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment will be at the Delta Heights Memorial Gardens . Brother Tim McCarter will officiate the service. Pallbearers are Bob Jackson, J D Mathis, Mark Boone, Mickey Garner, Ernie Blaine and Wiley Hilburn. Honorary pallbearers are the McDonald's morning coffee group.    He is survived by Daughter, Debbie and husband (Jim) Maloney of Cleveland, MS.  Son Donald Joel of Saraland , AL , brother James Joel of Cleveland . Seven grandchildren; Brandy Williams and Michael Maloney, Shoney Walker, Barbara Ann Woods, Jennifer Clayton, Cathy Talbert, Karmen Fountain,. Eleven great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Cleveland Church of Christ 212 Ronaldman Rd.
