Juanita Warfield

Ms. Juanita Warfield, age 80, of Gunnison, MS, died on Sunday September 09, 2012 at the Northwest Regional Medical Center in Clarksdale, MS.  She was born on September 17, 1931 to Wyley and Elizabeth (Parker) Martin in Wesson, MS. Juanita graduated Cophia Lincoln Community College where she played basketball and Southern Mississippi University with a Bachelors Degree in Science.  In January of 1954 she married Allen Warfield. She and her husband moved to Gunnison, MS where she taught school at Gunnison High School and was also the girls' basketball coach. After the raising her family she went back to work as a teacher for Rosedale High School and was a former assistant Post Master at Gunnison Post Office for several years.  She married Wendall Whittington March of 1998. Juanita was a DAR member and a member of the Gunnison Methodist Church. She was a caregiver and loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, 2 brothers and 4 sisters. Visitation will be held Wednesday September 12, 2012 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Cleveland Funeral Home with Celebration of Life Service to follow at 11:00 AM in the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will be at the Beulah Cemetery. Rev. Diane Elliott Will officiate the service.  She is survived by Daughter, Billie (Lee) McNece of Oxford, MS.  Son, Allen Warfield, Jr. of Gunnison, MS.  Son, Walter (Kathy) Warfield of Ruleville, MS. Grandsons, Lee "L.J." McNece of Oxford, MS.  Granddaughter, Katherine "Nickie" Warfield of Ruleville, MS. and special nephew, Kenneth Martin of New Orleans, LA.  She also leaves numerous step-children, step great grandchildren, step-great great grandchildren, and a host a nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Lee McNece, L. J. McNece, Robert "Robbie" Belk, Ricky Stone, Stacy Hale and Randy Townsend. Memorials may be made to the Methodist Children's Home P O Box 66 Clinton, MS 39060-0066 Cleveland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
