Kateland Aleese Barr, born on May 15th, 1996 in Cleveland, Ms., passed away on July 15th, 2023, in Benton Arkansas.

Kateland dedicated the past two years of her life working in Oxford. Her commitment to helping others was evident through her selflessness and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Her kindness extended to everyone she encountered, as she loved people and cherished the time she spent with her friends.

Kateland had an incredible ability to find goodness in every situation. Her positive outlook on life was infectious and served as a source of inspiration for those around her. She had a deep passion for volunteer work and actively sought out opportunities to make a difference in the lives of others.

Education played a significant role in Kateland's life. She graduated from Pensacola Christian Academy and Delta State University before pursuing her Bachelor's degree at Ole Miss. She earned a BS in Business and later added to her credentials by graduating from Massage Therapy School at Concorde Career College.

Beyond her academic pursuits, Kateland had a wide range of hobbies and interests that brought her joy. She had a deep appreciation for music, photography, and watching sunsets. Being outdoors allowed her to connect with nature, whether it was rafting or simply enjoying the beauty around her. Kateland had an affinity for vintage records and posters, which reflected her appreciation for art and nostalgia. Spending time with her grandparents on their farm brought her immense happiness, as did lending a hand with pottery at Satterfield Pottery. As a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, Kateland found solace in her faith and community.

Kateland is preceded in death by great-grandfather Charles A. Russell; grandmothers Maybelle Smith and Charlene Barr; and uncle Kim Smith. She leaves behind cherished memories and a legacy that will be carried on by her surviving family and friends.

She is survived by her parents, Bradley R. Barr and Lynne Smith Barr of Cleveland, along with her sister Brittnee Cauley (Mitchell) of Cleveland and brother Russell Barr of Cleveland. Great-grandmother Lois Russell of Cleveland and grandfather Lanny Barr of Cleveland also mourn her loss. Kateland will be fondly remembered by her nephews Noah Short and Ryder Cauley. Additionally, she leaves behind her uncles: Mike Smith (Kathy) of Gautier, Ms., Paul Smith of Cash Arkansas, John Barr (Leann) of Cleveland, Ms., and Andrew Barr (Casey) of Cleveland, Ms.

Kateland Aleese Barr will forever be remembered for her kind heart, unwavering positivity, and dedication to helping others. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those she touched during her time with us.

Vistation will be 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM Friday July 21, 2023 at Cleveland Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life service will follow at 2:00 PM in the cleveland Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow in the North Cleveland Cemetery. Reverend Tim Starnes will officiate the services.

Pallbearers are John Land, Bart Abraham, Lanny Barr, John Barr, Andrew Barr, and Presley Beck.

Cleveland Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Kateland’s family.
