Kathryn Carver Arant, 98, of Ruleville, Mississippi, went to be with Jesus on August 20, 2026, at Delta Medical Center in Greenville, MS.
Kathryn was born December 7, 1927, in Minter City, Mississippi. She was the daughter of Newton W. Carver and Lena Caffey Carver. Kathryn graduated from Minter City School and was a graduate of Millsaps College.
On December 4, 1949, Kathryn married Hugh (Buddy) Miller Arant, Sr. Buddy started farming immediately after they were married, and they lived on the farm all of their life. Kathryn continued to live on the farm after Buddy's death.
Kathryn was a lifetime member of the Ruleville United Methodist Church. She was very active in her church, where she taught children's Sunday School classes, sang in the choir, and played the piano for church. In later years, Kathryn served as choir director for the church.
Kathryn worked with Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Girl Scouts. She served on the Board of the Northwest Mississippi Girl Scout Council, the Mississippi Children's Home, and Flowers Manor. She served as Regent of the Hush-Puck-A-Haw Chapter, DAR, for ten years. During this time, she organized a chapter of the Children of the American Revolution (CAR). She served as the Delta Council Chairman (DAR). She was the President of the Ruleville United Methodist Women's Society for eight years.
Hugh (Buddy) Arant served as President of the Mississippi Farm Bureau for 16 years, and Kathryn was always in his background supporting him.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Miller Arant Sr.; her parents, Newton W. Carver and Lena Caffey Carver; her sister, Onnie Mae Carver; her brother, N.W. Carver, Jr. She was also preceded in death by her two sons, Hugh Miller Arant, Jr. and David Carver Arant, Sr.
Kathryn is survived by her daughter, Mae Allyson Arant Land (John) of Ruleville; her beloved grandchildren, Anna Kathryn Land; John Philip Land (Kristen); Miller Arant (Rebekah); Stephen Arant (Lacy); David Arant (Rebekkah); Mary Hunter Sharp (Jeremy) and Allen Arant (Lindsay). She is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren: Annslea Claire and Millie Margaret Land; Molly Miller Arant; Crews, Mamie and Vivienne Arant; Carver, Walker and Hunter Arant; Sawyer, Hayden, Bennett, Annelise and Alice Sharp; Jane Allen, Bennett, Baird, and Georgia Arant.
A visitation will be held Monday, August 24th at Ruleville United Methodist Church at 10:00 AM until service time at 11:00 AM. Graveside service will follow in Lehrton Cemetery. Rev. Sara Miller & Rev. Paul Knight will officiate the services.
The family would like to thank the "Sweet Ladies" of the Magnolia Home, Inc., for treating our mother and grandmother with compassion, dignity, and loving care.
Pallbearers are Miller Arant, John Philip Land, David Arant, Stephen Arant, Allen Arant, and Jeremy Sharp.
