Kay Whitaker

Kay Boyd Whitaker, age 69, of Water Valley, formerly of Boyle, MS died on Thursday November 12, 2009 at her residence. She was born on May 10, 1940 to Aubrey and Doris (Sherron) Boyd in Pace MS. Mrs. Whitaker attended Pace, Merigold and Boyle primary schools before graduating from Cleveland High School in 1958. She married James M Whitaker on July 15, 1964 in Cleveland, MS. She lived in the Cleveland area all of her life until her retirement to the Water Valley area. Mrs. Whitaker graduated MS Delta Jr. College LPN School in 1980, after graduation she worked at the Bolivar County Hospital, Dr. Jim Adams Clinic and Dr. Don Blackwood Family Medical Clinic. Mrs. Whitaker was a former secretary treasurer for the Bolivar County Saddle Club for many years. Her family says she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt who dedicated her life to helping others. Since moving to Water Valley she and her husband were attending the Sylva Rena Baptist Church. Visitation will be held Sunday 11/15/2009 from 4:00 PM ~ 6:00 PM at the Cleveland Funeral Home in Cleveland. Funeral Services will be held Monday 11/16/2009 2:00 PM at the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the North Cleveland Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her parents and a nephew Shannon Boyd. She is survived by Spouse, James M. Whitaker of Water Valley, MS. Daughter, Pam and husband Keith James of West Lafayette, IN. Son, Jimbo Whitaker of Water Valley, MS. Two brothers; Rev. Charles and wife Nancy Boyd of Holly Springs, MS. and Wallace and wife Betty Boyd of Cleveland, MS. Sister, Ann and husband Bill Quinton of Cleveland, MS. Two Aunts, Ruby Wells of Holly Springs, MS. and Billy Jean Allegrezza of Shaw, MS. Grandson; Matthew and wife Jessica James of Lafayette, IN. Two granddaughters; Tabitha James of West Lafayette, IN and Lilly Whitaker of Water Valley, MS. Pallbearers will be Matthew James, Neal Quinton, Lane Quinton, Jared Moseley, Charles Boyd, Jr. and Steven Boyd. Honorary pallbearers will be Les Avritt, Clancy Howard, Chris Hays, Kenny Runnels, Little John Arbuckle, Tyler Quinton and Conner Quinton.
