Leroy Boyd

ENID - Leroy Boyd, age 90, of Enid formerly of Cleveland, passed away on Tuesday October 08, 2013 at the Tri- Lakes Medical Center in Batesville, MS.
Visitation will be held Friday 10/11/2013 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Cleveland. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Cleveland. Burial will be in the New Cleveland Cemetery. Reverends Milton Byrd and Ray Legge will officiate the service.
Leroy was born on March 19, 1923 to Will and Vera (Champion) Boyd at Poplar Creek, MS in the family home. He married Evelyn Doty in 1939. Leroy was a WW II Veteran having served in US Army in the Philippines obtaining the rank of Sergeant. He was member and Deacon of First Baptist Church in Cleveland. Leroy loved to fish and was a member of the Benoit Outing Fishing Club. He was a member of the American Legion, and an avid Ole Miss fan. Leroy was a loving father, grand father and great grandfather who will be missed by his many relatives, friends and his canine companion Mollie.
He is survived by Son, Merrell (Sandra) Boyd of Enid, MS. Grandson, Lee (Rhonda) Boyd of Cleveland, MS. Great Grandson, Adam (Tara) Boyd of Merigold, MS. Great Granddaughter, Brittni Chunn of Houston, TX. Sister, Ruth Jefcoat of Indianola, MS. Sister, Minnie Braswell of Cleveland, MS. Sister, Frances Farrish of Germantown, TN. Sister, Elizabeth Mallette of Ruleville, MS. Brother, Gus Boyd of Spring, TX and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Judge Jefcoat, Milton Earl Jefcoat, Alan Howell, Joe Miller Mallette, Albert Moore and Gary Gilder. Honorary pallbearers will be the Jimmy Breland Sunday School Class.
