Louis McKnight

Louis Elmo McKnight, age 87, of Cleveland, passed away on Monday February 28, 2011 at the Bolivar Medical Center Long Term Care. He was born on October 15, 1923 to Joe A. and Era Sue (Carver) McKnight in Cleveland, MS. Mr. McKnight was a life long Delta resident. He was a WW II Army veteran. Mr. McKnight was a former farmer and a retired policeman having served the cities of Cleveland and Indianola. He was a member of the VFW, a Mason and grew up attending Morrison Chapel Baptist Church. He loved his family and had shown great love to his grandchildren. Mr. McKnight was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Della McGovern McKnight, sister, Oline Payne and a brother Curtis McKnight. The family will receive friends Thursday March 3, 2011 at Cleveland Funeral Home from 2:00PM until 3:00PM Graveside services at the New Cleveland Cemetery. Burial will be at the New Cleveland Cemetery. The Reverend John Thomas will officiate the services. He is survived by Daughter, Jerry and husband Doug Taylor of Shaw, MS. Son, Elmo and late wife Bev McKnight, Jr. of Flora, MS. Daughter, Margaret McKnight and husband William Kent of Cleveland, MS. Son, Joe McKnight and friend Sue Tarsi of Cleveland, MS. Daughter, Gayle McKnight and husband Garry Waddell of Saltillo, MS. Sister, Jody and husband Henry Weiss of Columbus, MS. Brother, Roy and wife Vickie McKnight of Ackerman, MS. Seven grandchildren Regina and husband Dave Sutton of Houston, TX, Tina Ferretti and husband Steve Elliott of Germantown, TN, Hope and husband Pete Johnson of Southaven,Mike and wife Allison McKnight of Flora, MS , Lee and wife Julie Kent of Nesbit, MS, Matt and wife Jessica Arendale of White Pine, Tn and Laura Beth and husband Adam Watson of Tupelo, MS. SIx great grandchildren Dylan McKnight of Flora, MS, River Johnson of Southaven, Bianca Elliott of Germantown, TN, Lauren Landrum of Nesbit , Taylor Lee Kent of Nesbit, MS and Warren Lucio of Tupelo, MS. He was also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the employees of the Bolivar Medical Long Term Care for their special attention and care given.
