**In Loving Memory of Mary Jefcoat Bean**
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Mary Jefcoat Bean, age 81, of Linn, MS, who departed this life on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at the Sanctuary Hospice in Tupelo, MS.
Mary's journey began on August 8, 1943, in the loving embrace of her parents, Elmer and Arlin Nelms Jefcoat, in the close-knit Linn Community. She completed her education at Linn High School in 1961 and furthered her studies at Delta State College. On a beautiful New Year’s Eve in 1967, she united in marriage with her soulmate, Charles Lemuel Bean, at Linn Baptist Church. Together, they built a loving home in the Linn Community until Charles's passing in 2009. In 2021, Mary relocated to be closer to her cherished daughter.
Mary lived a vibrant life filled with passion and enthusiasm. A true sports aficionado, she relished cheering for the New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Braves, hardly missing a game. Many fond memories were created as she and Charles spent joyful times at Marke' Lanes in Cleveland and adventured to his numerous bowling tournaments.
With a career spanning many years as a secretary at Rocky Apparel, Mary dedicated herself to her work before embracing retirement. However, her greatest pride and joy came from her family, particularly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were the light of her life. She found great comfort in reading novels during her quiet moments, often getting lost in the stories that fueled her imagination.
Mary is now reunited with her beloved husband, Charles, as well as her parents and siblings—sister Sandra and brother W.G. Jefcoat. She leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth, survived by her two daughters, Tammy Jackson (Larry) of Saltillo, MS, and Casondra Washington (Paul) of Linn, MS. Mary will also be lovingly remembered by her brother Glen Jefcoat (Debbie) of Tupelo, four adoring grandchildren—Joseph Jackson, Morgan Goss (Will), Sarah Grace Roberts (Kye), and Christopher Washington (Ryan)—along with two great-grandchildren, Abby Kayte Goss and Lily Roberts, and a host of nieces and nephews who will carry cherished memories of her.
A visitation honoring Mary’s life will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2025, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Linn Baptist Church, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 1:00 PM. Reverend Jimmy McClendon will preside over the service, and she will be laid to rest at Linn Baptist Church Cemetery, surrounded by the love of her family and community.
Memorials may be made to Sanctuary Hospice of Tupelo or Linn Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mary’s spirit, kindness, and unwavering love will live on in the hearts of everyone she touched. May she rest in peace.
Cleveland Funeral Home is honored to assist with the arrangements.
