**Obituary for Mary Christine Edington**

Mary Christine Edington, age 89, of Merigold, MS, peacefully passed away on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Indywood Estates in Cleveland, MS, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on May 5, 1936, in Sledge, MS, Mary was the daughter of Thomas and Quay Lee Glover Mayo. She grew up in the Sledge community and attended Dubbs Community Schools, where she formed the foundation of her lifelong values of faith, family, and hard work.

On June 20, 1955, Mary married the love of her life, Dennis Gwin Edington, Sr. During his service in the U.S. Navy, they made their home in San Diego, California, before returning to Mississippi in 1959 to begin raising their family in Tunica. Mary balanced her devotion to motherhood with her career at Tunica Manufacturing. In 1971, the family relocated to Cleveland, MS, where she continued her career at Baxter Laboratories.

Mary’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and proud grandmother. Known for her strength, kindness, and her gift of nourishing others, she delighted in preparing meals and gathering her loved ones around the table. She created a home filled with warmth and love, where no one ever left hungry. Her family and friends will always remember her steady presence, her unwavering support, and the joy she found in caring for those she loved most.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Quay Lee Mayo; her beloved husband of 66 years, Dennis Gwin Edington, Sr.; and her siblings, Mildred Conway, Dorothy Samuels, Delane Mayo, and Joyce Fraiser.

Mary’s memory will be forever cherished by her daughters, Lisa (Keith) Robb of Cleveland, MS, and Denise (Timmy) Haynes of Merigold, MS; her son, Denny (Georgia) Edington of Merigold, MS; her sisters, Lydia Bly, Geraldine Bryant, and Barbara Thomas; grandchildren, Brasher (Jennifer) Robb, Christie (Matt) Sledge, Matt (Natalie) Robb, Riley Edington, and Jonathan Edington; and great-grandchildren, Breland Sledge, John Matthew Sledge, Maddox Edington, Blakeley Berryhill, Noah Robb, Lucas Robb, and William David Edington. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will hold her memory close to their hearts.

The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to Mary’s devoted caregivers, Felicia Nix and Shirley Moore, along with the compassionate staff at Indywood Estates, for their dedicated care and kindness.
