Ruleville- Mary Ruth Maxwell, age 90, of Ruleville, died on Wednesday February 10, 2010 at the Grenada Lake Medical Center in Grenada, MS. She was born on May 23, 1919 to Church and Elona (Williams) Williams. Mary attended school in Skene, MS. She also attended Business School in Memphis, TN and also Delta State College in Cleveland, MS. She married J. B. Maxwell on April 25, 1938 in Ruleville, MS there she and her husband raised 3 children. Mrs. Maxwell worked for several companies before her retirement including 20 plus years of service for North Sunflower Medical Center and Mississippi Department of Corrections as the director of the Alcohol and Drug Treatment Center. She was a member of First Baptist Church Ruleville, Eastern Star, Southern States Correction Association, Mississippi Association of Professionals in Correction and a former VFW Auxiliary. She was an avid bridge player. Mrs. Maxwell was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Floyd Maxwell, two brothers; Carlton Williams and Floyd Williams.
Visitation will be held Sunday 02/14/2010 from 1:00 PM ~ 3:00 PM at the Cleveland Funeral Home in Cleveland. Funeral Services will follow at 3:00 PM in the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at the Lehrton Cemetery in Ruleville.
Pall-Bearers are grandsons; Justice Lusk, Sean Maxwell, Brian Maxwell, Brennan Raney, Tyler Raney and Jason Wolfe. Honorary Pall-Bearers are Shea Lusk and Jake Wolf. She is survived by Daughter, Cecilia Lusk of Ruleville, MS. Son, James William Maxwell of Horn Lake, MS. Grandchildren Sean Maxwell, Mimi Harder, Brian Maxwell, Helen Maxwell, Monica Wolfe, Matt Maxwell, Coco Plum, Josh Maxwell, Jamie Harrell, and Shea Lusk. Great grandchildren; Shelby Shepard, Joshua Harder, Alex Roberts, Allen Maxwell, Felecia Maxwell, Brennan Raney, Tyler Raney, Jake Wolfe, Nichole Lusk, Justice Lusk, Ashley Cocilova, Lance Lusk and Riley Lusk. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association National Center 7272 Greenville Avenue Dallas, TX 75231 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital P.O. Box 2151 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38101-2151. Cleveland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
