**Obituary for Mary Jo McAtee Moody**
Mary Jo McAtee Moody, age 89, of Cleveland, MS, peacefully passed away on November 13, 2025, at AMG Specialty Hospital in Batesville, MS.
Born on January 11, 1936, in Drew, MS, Mary Jo was the daughter of Knapp Sidney McAtee and Nellie Malonize Gibson McAtee. She received her education at the Drew Schools and later married the late Jack Moody, with whom she built a loving family. Mary Jo dedicated many years of her life to public service, beginning her career at Kroger Grocery Store and Gibson's in Cleveland as a cashier before serving as a case worker for the Mississippi Department of Human Services, retiring after 30 years of devoted service.
A true family person, Mary Jo had a passion for cooking and looked forward to family gatherings. She also enjoyed creating pottery and cherished the companionship of her beloved dogs. Her most treasured role was that of a grandmother, where her heart truly shone. Mary Jo was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ruleville, MS.
Mary Jo is now reunited with her parents, Knapp and Malonize McAtee, her husband Jack Moody, and her daughters, Nancy Jo Springer and Ginger Pope. She is survived by her sons, Jackie Moody, Steve Moody, and David Pope, all of Cleveland, MS; her sister, Judy Bizzell of Cleveland, MS; four grandchildren, Corrie O'Neal, Wade Springer, Mary Beth Moody, and Joseph Springer; and great-grandchildren Mia O'Neal, Millie Claire O'Neal, Jack O'Neal, Remi Smith, Chesley Smith, Will Springer, Walker Springer, and Jackson Springer. She will also be remembered fondly by a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Cleveland Funeral Home, followed by a Celebration of Life Funeral Service at 2:00 PM in the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will take place at Lehrton Cemetery, with Brother Chris Gentry officiating the services.
Pallbearers will include James Williams, Terry Williams, Frank Bizzell, Sid McAtee, Wade Springer, and Joseph Springer.
