RULEVILLE- Mary Jane Parttridge Winters age 81 of Ruleville, MS formerly of Drew, MS passed away Friday, April 26, 2019, at Walter B. Crook Nursing Home in Ruleville, MS.

Jane was born February 19, 1938, one of 15 children to John Leonard and Mary Nell Downs Parttridge, Sr. on the Sunflower Plantation in Merigold, MS. She married James Edgar Winters of Pace, MS on November 22, 1957. They became engaged the night they met on a blind date when James had a weekend leave from the United States Air Force.

Jane loved embroidering and sewing, taking great joy in sewing for her children, grandchildren, and the public. She also loved to write and read poetry.

Jane loved her church, for many years she taught Sunday School and served as the Nazarene World Mission Society’s’ local President for Sunflower Church of the Nazarene. She loved baking and cooking for her family, friends, church events and for the local men’s Brotherhood group. Jane helped James for many years with his bookkeeping and honey business in the 1970s to the 1990s.

Jane was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-seven years, James Edgar Winters, her parents John Leonard Parttridge, Sr and Mary Nell Downs Parttridge, sisters, Johnnie Mae Yarborough, Mozelle Chason, Sara Rosamond and Jo Ann Hagan, brothers, Billy Parttridge, John Leonard (J. L) Parttridge, Jr., Charles Pattridge and Henry Parttridge.

Mrs. Winters is survived by her son Allen Winters (Jackie) of McCarley, MS, daughter, Charlotte Winters of Cleveland, MS, two granddaughters, Melissa Earnest (Case) of Grenada and Natalie Robb (Matthew) of Cleveland, MS. two grandsons, Gregory Winters of McCarley, and Daniel Winters of McCarley, MS, five great-grandchildren Ryland Earnest, Caselyn Earnest, Saralyn Earnest, Gracelyn Earnest  all of Grenada, MS and Noah Robb of Cleveland, MS, sister, Anna Hagan of Muphresboro, TN, sister, Shirley Wilkerson of Cleveland, MS, sister, Jimmie Best of Cleveland, MS, sister, Janis Sigler (Robert) of Gulfport, MS, brother, Jack Parttridge (Sandra) of Harrison, AR, brother, Sonny Partridge (Becky) of Batesville, MS,  She also leaves a host of nieces and nephews to cherish her memory.

Visitation will be held Saturday, May 4, 2019, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 Am at Cleveland Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 AM in the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery in Coila, MS at 2:00 PM Sunday, May 5, 2019  Reverend Royce Winters  will officiate the services.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Robb, Sammy Horne, Daniel Winters, Dr. Michael Patterson, Mark Yarborough, and Michael Winters. Honorary pallbearers are Ryland Earnest and Scott Heffner.
