Born on May 13, 1944, to Roy Hill and Ada Bell Morris Hill in Stewart, MS, Mavis was raised with strong family values and a love for her community. She attended schools in Pace, Long Shot, and Margaret Green Junior High. In her younger years, she distinguished herself as a State Champion Softball player. She devoted much of her life to raising her children and caring for her nieces, nephews, and beloved grandchildren. A skilled problem solver, she was the go-to person whenever something needed fixing. Mavis enjoyed sewing and fishing, but her greatest treasure was caring for others; her home was a welcoming refuge for those in need. She was a dedicated member of the Pace Pentecostal Church, where she expressed her faith and worshipped her Lord and Savior.
Mavis was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Ada Bell Hill; her son, Billy Hamilton; and her siblings: Reydell Hill, Davis Hill, Bobby Hill, and Charlotte Hutchinson. She is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, Benny Lewis Hamilton, Sr.; her sons, Benny Lewis Hamilton, Jr. (Tammy) of Merigold, MS, Steven Ray Hamilton (Jennifer) of Ruleville, MS, and Jason Hamilton of Pace, MS. Mavis is also survived by her sisters, Betty Franks (Steve) of Tempson, TX, and Bonnie Jean McLevain (Gary) of Allen, TX; her brother, Wayne Hill (Shirley) of Lena, MO; and a cherished collection of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews who hold her memory dear.
