ROME--Mickey Ray, age 57, of Rome, passed away on Thursday September 1, 2016 at the Regional Medical Center in Memphis, TN.
Visitation will be held Monday, September 5th from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Cleveland Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 1:00 PM in the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Rome Cemetery. Rev. Joe Young will officiate the services.
Mr. Ray was born on July 31, 1959 to Alvin and Mary (Huskey) Ray in New Orleans, LA. He lived in the delta since 2002 where he worked for several area farmers--most recently Jerry Kent for the last 11 years. He married Sheila Thompson Ray on January 15, 2010 in Sumner, MS. Mickey loved to paint, work on cars and fishing. He was a loving husband, father and brother and was of the Baptist faith.
Mickey was preceded in death by his parents Alvin & Mary Ray as well as his brothers Tommy, Eddie and Ricky Ray.
He is survived by Wife, Sheila Thompson Ray of Rome, MS., Son, Mickey Ray, Jr of CA. Sister, Debbie Ray of Clarksdale, MS. Sister, Rita Ray of Cleveland, MS. Sister, Joann Salazar of Doddsville, MS. Sister, Nancy Jones of Rosedale, MS. Sister, Mary Ray of Cleveland, MS. Brother, Alvin Ray of Drew, MS. Brother, Roger Ray of Clarksdale, MS. Brother, Adam Ray of Greenville, MS. Brother, Jamie Ray of Pace, MS. Brother, Stevie Ray of Senatobia, MS. Brother, Tracy Ray of Hornlake, MS. Brother, Michael Joe Ray of Shelby, MS. Step-son, Bryan Vanderford of Rome, MS. Step-son, Randy Vanderford of Pontotoc, MS., 10 Grandchildren & a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Vanderford, Randy Vanderford, Patrick Silva, Philip Silva, Jamie Ray, Adam Ray and Randy Jones.
