Mildred Anne Chamness, a beloved soul who touched the hearts of many, passed away on March 6, 2024, at Allegiance Specialty Hospital in Greenville, MS. She was born on November 17, 1956, in Cleveland, MS to Lawrence and Helen Elizabeth Wells Chamness.
Mildred's journey was one of love and dedication. She graduated from Cleveland High School and pursued higher education at Delta State University. Her career in advertising at the Bolivar Commercial showcased her talent and creativity. Later, as a manager for the Talking Phone Book/Yellow Book in Columbus, MS, Mildred continued to excel. In 2015, she returned to the Delta region where her heart truly belonged.
An individual with diverse interests, Mildred found joy in simple pleasures—playing on her phone, savoring Elvis's music, and discovering a newfound musical admiration for Alfie Boe.
In her passing, Mildred is reunited with her parents Lawrence and Helen Chamness. She is lovingly remembered by her brother Mike Chamness (Pam) of Carthage, MS; sisters Patricia Price of Dayton Ohio, and Laura Michelle Neely of Oklahoma City, OK; as well as nine nieces and nephews—Cody Boyd, Carrie Atkins, Casey Boyd, Jenna Hager, Melissa Chamness, Beth Lindsey, Megan Doolittle, Taylor Oswalt, and Ryan Oswalt. Her legacy lives on through several great-nieces and great-nephews who will forever cherish her memory.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation at Cleveland Funeral Home on March 11th from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A solemn graveside service will follow at Delta Heights Memorial Gardens in Cleveland with her brother Mike Chamness presiding over the ceremony.
