Miss Cheyanne Payne Hicks

October 28, 2002 — February 19, 2016

Mary Cheyanne Payne Hicks, age 13, of Leland, Mississippi, passed away Friday, February 19 at University Medical Center, Jackson. A celebration of life service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 23 at Immanuel Baptist Church, Cleveland with Dr. Steve Huber and Dr. Gary Crowell officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM. Graveside services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 24 in Memphis Memory Gardens Cemetery, Memphis, Tennessee with Dr. Gary Crowell officiating.
Cheyanne was a seventh grade student in her first year at Washington School in Greenville MS. She was a member of the 7th grade basketball team. Cheyanne loved music, dance, cheer, gymnastics and sharing God's word. Cheyanne previously lived in Cleveland with her family, where she attended Bayou Academy and was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Cleveland where she was baptized along with her sister, Carson Layla Hicks. Cheyanne is described by those who knew her as someone who always had a smile on her face.
She is survived by her parents, Jimmy and JaRae Hicks of Leland; 4 sisters, Carley Nicole Hicks, Carson Layla Hicks, Bella Reese Hicks, and Sophie Lynn Hicks all of Leland; her grandmother, Debra Thompson of Daphne, Alabama; her grandparents, Danny & Cindy Gentry of Memphis, Tennessee; grandparents, James and Patt Hicks of Oakland, Tennessee; her grandmother, Cindy Payne of Southaven, Mississippi, and her birth father, Justin Payne of Millington, Tennessee.
Cheyanne was preceded in death by her grandfather, Scott Thompson of Daphne, Alabama and her grandfather, Thomas Payne of Memphis, Tennessee.
