CLEVELAND - Dewey Estell Peeples, age 97, of Cleveland, passed on Tuesday July 22, 2014 at his home in Cleveland.

Visitation will be held Thursday 07/24/2014 from 09:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Cleveland Funeral Home in Cleveland. Funeral Services will follow at 10:00 AM in the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at the Embry Cemetery in Spring Hill, MS at 2:00 PM Thursday July 24, 2014. Rev. Jimmy Breland and Rev. Tommy Hazzard will officiate the services.

Dewey was born on May 24, 1917 to James Albert and Eliza (Northern) Peeples in Alva MS. At an early age he and his family moved to the Delta. He was discharged from the National Guard in 1936. He married Otie Eva Mae Hazzard on June 21, 1936 in Cleveland, MS. Dewey had worked for Lowery Timms and Scott Petroleum for over 45 years. Mr. Peeples had been a member of Providence Baptist Church since 1952. He loved to go to gospel singings and work in his garden. He was always willing to share the bounties of his labors of the garden with his neighbors, friends and family.

He is survived by Daughter, Eva Frances P. Howard of Madison, MS. Son, Jack (Diane) Peeples of Cleveland, MS. Daughter, Anita Charlene P. Twiner (George) of Canton, MS. Brother, Pervy Arthur Peeples of Atlanta, GA. 5 grandchildren; Russell Peeples (Donna), Art Peeples (Cindy), Jeff Peeples (Beth), Anita Twiner and Kathy Chapin. 7 great grandchildren; Tiffany Peeples Andrews (Matt), Holli Peeples McCaslin (Trip), Clay Peeples (Brooke), Cody Peeples (Wyndy), Amber Twiner Dechamp (Brian), Joanna Chapin and Jennifer Chapin. 5 great great grandchildren; Griffin Peeples, Addison Peeples, Hank McCaslin, Cash McCaslin and Sawyer Deschamp.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Otie Eva Mae Peeples, brothers Lloyd Peeples, Wade Peeples, and Earl Peeples, sisters; Hattie P Pyron, Odean P. Palmore, Ola P. Yarborough and Carrie P. Basswell.
Pallbearers are grandsons Russell, Art, Jeff, Cody and Clay Peeples and friend Roger Morgan.
