Born on August 11, 1956, in Ruleville, Mississippi, Randy devoted over 30 years of service to the community through his various roles in law enforcement.

Randy’s career began at the Parchman Penitentiary and continued at the Ruleville Police Department before culminating at the Cleveland Police Department, where he steadily advanced to the esteemed position of Assistant Chief. His tenure in law enforcement showcased not only his commitment to public safety but also his leadership and dedication to the welfare of the community he served. He retired from the Cleveland Police Department on August 1, 2003.

Beyond his professional life, Randy was a passionate outdoorsman with a love for turkey hunting and deer hunting. He found joy in fishing and was known for his culinary prowess, treasured by family and friends alike for his exceptional cooking skills.

Randy is survived by his devoted wife, Kim Phillips Townsend; his sister, Kathy Warfield (Walter) of Ruleville, Mississippi; his brothers, Timmy Townsend (Mary) of Ruleville, Mississippi, and Bill Crocker (Ashley) of Iowa. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Marvin Townsend; his mother, Betty Murphree Crocker; and his sister, Susan Barnes. Randy’s legacy as a law enforcement officer, outdoorsman, and beloved family member will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
