He married Mary Janet Vanlandingham on December 18, 1983. Their marriage was a true testament of devotion, friendship, faithfulness. In January of 1985, they welcomed their pride and joy, his baby girl, Kristen. Rob worked with Planters Equipment Company and Allis-Chalmers Tractor Company in his early career. He received recognition for his work with Allis-Chalmers which led to a trip to Spain. He later became the Maintenance Supervisor working alongside his dear friend, Arthur Harris, for 25 years first at Delta Pride Catfish and then America's Catch. In his younger life, he was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing but received his greatest joy in his later yearswith the birth of his 3 grandchildren.
