SHELBY - Selma Ozell Nelson Springfield, age 83, of Shelby, passed away on Thursday August 24, 2017 at Shelby Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 30th from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Cleveland Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be at 2:00 PM in the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Greenville, MS. Rev. Robert Haney and Michael Nelson will officiate the services.
Selma was born in Sipsey, AL on July 29, 1934 to Elmer William Stephenson and Annie Bell Scott Stephenson. She attended Greenwood Springs, MS Schools. Selma worked in restaurants in Columbus in the 1950's. They moved to Amory, Cleveland and then to Greenville. Selma worked at Michaels Restaurant as a waitress and the Billups Store and The Curb Store as a clerk. Selma enjoyed playing bingo, cooking and providing for her family.
Selma was preceded in death by her parents--Elmer William Stephenson and Annie Bell Scott Stephenson; her husband--William Springfield; brothers--Arlie Stephenson and Virgil Stephenson; her sisters--Polly Ivey Stephenson and Velma Bryant; her half sister--Mary Lou Lann.
Selma was survived by Son, Jim Carl (Cathy) Nelson of Cleveland, MS; Son, Steve Lawrence (Betty) Nelson of Gulfport, MS; Son, Stuart Wayne (Pam) Nelson of Greenville, MS; Son, Ricky Lee (Linda) Nelson of Greenville, MS; Son, Christopher (Cindy) Nelson of Blue Springs, MO; Son, William Darrell (Angie) Nelson of Greenville, MS; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Michael Nelson, Jim Nelson, Jr., Bradley Nelson, Zach Sides, Jerry Dixon and Glenn Young.
