Shirley Dean Partridge Wilkerson, age 83, of Cleveland, MS, passed away Monday, January 8, 2024, at Bolivar Medical Center in Cleveland, MS.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 11, 2024, from 11:00Am until 1:00 PM at Cleveland Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 PM in the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Greg Chamblee and Reverend Bubba Childress will officiate the service. Burial will be in the Delta Heights Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Cleveland, MS.
Shirley was born January 2, 1941 to John Leonard Partridge and Mary Nell Downs Partridge in Ruleville, MS. She attended Drew High School. She married James Wilkerson, January 2, 1960. Shirley was an LPN at Bolivar Medical Center working in Labor and Delivery. She also worked at several area nursing homes; The Care Inn, Cleveland Health & Rehabilitation and finally at Walter B. Crook Nursing Home. Shirley was a caregiver at heart, always willing to take care of others even before herself. She loved to play the piano, and worshiping her Lord and Savior to whom she came to know at the early age of 12. She fervently worked with her husband James as she helped to pastor many area churches for 53 years, but the joy of her life was loving on her grandchildren and family. Her laugh, smile and jovial personality will be missed by her many friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents John and Mary Nell Partridge, husband James Wilkerson, 10 siblings; Johnnie Mae Yarborugh, Anna Hagan, JoAnne Hagan, Jane Winters, Sarah Rosamond, Mozelle Chason, Billy Partridge, J.L. Partridge, Henry Partridge, and Charlie Partridge and Jack Partridge
Shirley is survived by her 2 children, Debbie Heffner (Richard) of Boyle, MS, James "Ed" Wilkerson, Jr. (Sarah) of Grenada, MS, sisters; Janis Sigler (Robert), Jimmie Best, brothers, Sonny Parttridge (Becky), brother-in-law William Wilkerson (Claudia) and grandchildren; Scott Heffner, John Paul Wilkerson (Taylor), Chelsea Heffner, Kyle Partridge, Casey Lopez (Tony), Michael Heffner, Patrick Wilkerson, Logan Heffner, McKenzie Wilkerson, Olivia Brown (Caleb) and Eli Pollan, great grandchildren Emma Marie Lopez and John Owen Wilkerson. She also leaves a host of nieces and nephews to cherish her memory.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons; John Paul Wilkerson, Patrick Wilkerson, Kyle Partridge, Logan Heffner, Michael Heffner and Tony Edwards.
Cleveland Funeral Home has been entrusted with the service arrangements.
