Sterling E Luna

RULEVILLE- Sterling Edward Luna (Freck)age 77 of Ruleville, MS passed away Saturday, April 20, 2019, at his home in Ruleville. He was born January 10th, 1942 in Pascola MO to John Edward and Cora Ella Smith Luna.  He married Thelma Louise Hampton on May 15th, 1963.  After going to work for Maloney Farms, Freck moved his family to Itta Bena, Mississippi in 1965 where he continued to farm, until going to work for Elbert Shurden of Drew.  Freck moved his family to Linn, MS where Lu-Shur Inc. was soon formed where he found his love for leveling land.  Freck continued to pursue his love of land leveling until his retirement.  He loved nothing more than to work, make friends, fly his airplanes both model and real, ride his motorcycle, love on his puppy dogs and watch his grand-daughters grow up.

Freck is proceeded in death by his parents John Edward Luna and Cora Smith Luna, sister Naomi Luna Shurden, brothers Larry Luna and Jerry Jordan. 

Freck is survived by his wife Thelma Hampton Luna, sons Terry Keith Luna (Paula) of Dockery and Kenneth Alan Luna (Jolin) of Doddsville, grand-daughters Brittney Luna Oubre (Bryce) of Aurora, CO and Sterlynn Brooks Luna of Doddsville, sister Peggy Luna Norman (Larry) of Pascola, MO and brother Daniel Lee Luna (Patty) of Pascola, MO.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 24, 2019, from 10:00 AM till 12:00 PM at Cleveland Funeral Home in Cleveland, MS. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will follow at 12:00 PM in the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Lehrton Cemetery in Ruleville, MS. Reverend Robert Haney and Reverend Sara Miller will officiate the services.

Pallbearers will be Perry Maloney, Brad Maloney, Larry Johnson, Reggie Shurden, Mike Myers and Marcie Mullins. The honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Haney, Fletcher Clark, Gail Roark, and Troy Haney.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ruleville United Methodist Church or North Sunflower Hospice.
