We pause today to say goodbye to a wonderful father, brother and uncle. Thomas Allen Coghlan ( Tommy) passed away Monday, November 25, 2013 at the age of 74 after a long battle with heart disease in Nashville, NC. Born November 17, 1939 to Edmond Carroll and Mingnon Mann Coghlan in a primitive cabin near the Mississippi River levee in western Bolivar County, Mississippi, he attended Benoit School, graduating as valedictorian of the class of 1957. He spent four years in the U. S. Air Force, serving in Germany and Alaska. Following his Military service he graduated from Delta State College in Cleveland, Mississippi and retired from Gaines Oil Co. in Cleveland. For the past two years he lived near Nashville, NC near his son Will. He was always cheerful and his smiles and story-telling will long be missed. He was prceded in death by his parents, a son Thomas Allen Coghlan, Jr., Two sisters; Audrey Horn and Helen Nokes Tommy is survived by 3 children Teresa Coghlan Tucker, Pace, FL Will Coghlan, Nashville, NC and Leigh Coghlan PIckering, Asheville, NC 6 granddaughters~Courtney, Torey, Hailey and Anna Grace Tucker, Greyson and Caitlin Coghlan. 2 sisters Judith Coghlan Lewis, Nesbit, MS Carolyn Coghlan Gremillion, Madison, MS 4 brothers Edmund "Pete' Coghlan of GA Charles Coghlan, Benoit Gene Coghlan, IL James Coghlan, LA and many nieces and nephews
A memorial celebration will be held Dec. 21 at Momeyer Baptist Church in NC.
