Vickie Mathis

Vickie Lynn Milum Mathis, age 69, of Boyle MS, passed away Friday, December 15, 2023 at Bolivar Medical Center in Cleveland, MS.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at Cleveland Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 PM in the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Shaw Cemetery. Brother John Ferguson will officiate the service.

Vickie was born July 10, 1954, to George Ertis Milum and Gladys Grimes Milum in Benoit, MS. She was raised in the Cleveland/Shaw, MS area. She married Roger Ballard in 1972 in Cleveland. She later married Freddie Mathis in 1987 

Vickie worked for the Bolivar County Road Department for 21 years as a secretary. Her dedication to her work was evident in the respect of her coworkers and customers alike. She was an excellent housekeeper and cook. She had a passion for decorating her home, especially for Fall and Christmas. In her younger days, she enjoyed dancing. Her family meant everything to her and she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Vickie was a Christian.

Vickie was preceded in death by her parents, George and Gladys Milum; Brother, George Ertis Milam, Jr.; Sister, Wanda Milum Ray and her husband, Freddie Mathis.

Vickie is survived by her two sons, Michael Ballard, of Skene, MS and Jason (Kadi) Ballard of Greenwood, MS; Sisters, Shirley Turner of Cleveland, MS and Brenda (Larry) Bramuchi of Cleveland, MS; Brother, Larry Milum of Shelby, MS; 2 step-daughters, Jennifer and Emily Mathis; Grandson, Ashton Ballard of Boyle, MS; Granddaughters, Carlisle Ballard of Brandon, MS, Stella Ballard of Greenwood, MS, Brittany Ballard of MS and Madison Gant of Cleveland, MS.

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Milum, Dwaine Ray, Steve Ray, Bobby Ray, Brandon Baldwin and Jeremy Peacock. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Bramuchi and Byron Kyle.

Cleveland Funeral Home has been entrusted with the service arrangements.
