Warren Griffin

August 16, 1943 — August 11, 2025

Drew, Mississippi

James Warren Griffin, a devoted husband, cherished father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and lovingly respected member of the community, was born August 16, 1943, in Merigold, Mississippi. He entered his heavenly home on August 11, 2025, after a sudden illness, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, integrity, kindness, service, and dedication.

Warren led a life imbued with purpose, love, and commitment. He graduated from Drew High School in 1961, furthered his education at Mississippi Delta Junior College, and lived a life of continual learning. Following his ardent desire of love and service to his country, Warren served in the Army National Guard. His career was marked by hard work, loyalty, and determination. The first years of Warren's career path had him serving as the Parts Manager at Massey Ferguson, Carpenter Motors, and then Kossmans Inc. He turned to sharing his knowledge through teaching as an Electronics Instructor in the Vocational School at the Mississippi Department of Corrections for 33 years. Along with his career, Warren also stayed busy with his business, W&W Electronics, repairing televisions, electronics, towers, and anything that others needed help with.

Warren had a deep love and value for people and always had an encouraging word and smile to lift others up. His life thrived on relationships, and his heart swelled with love and joy for his family. He married Nancy, his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, to forge a profound and enduring marriage. Together, they raised three children to continue their legacy of faith and love. Warren was characterized by a servant’s heart and an unwavering commitment to his community. He served as a Deacon at Drew Baptist Church, where his faith, compassion, and merriment extended to his fellow congregants. Through the years, he was also involved in the community, serving as a volunteer firefighter and coaching Little League Baseball. His life exemplified his spirit of selfless service. Warren found great pleasure in the time spent hunting and fishing with his family. He was a loyal and enthusiastic supporter of Mississippi State University sports, UAB Baseball, and the Atlanta Braves. He especially enjoyed supporting and cheering for his family in all of their endeavors. Warren found satisfaction in gardening, grilling, playing cards, and spending time with his family and dear friends.

Warren was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Dell Griffin and Myrtle Fletcher Griffin Rogers; his brothers: Cecil, Kenneth, Wayne, and Clark Griffin; and his beloved son-in-law, Anthony Nichols. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Nancy Scott Griffin; his three children: LeAnn Nichols of Spring, Texas; Wendy Roncalli (Desi) of Saltillo, Mississippi; and Scott Griffin (Angie) of Atoka, Tennessee; his grandchildren: Brandon Nichols (Lindsay), Fletcher Nichols (Anh), Logan Nichols (Danielle), Shelby Nichols, Lauren Mann, Lance Mann, Madison Roncalli, Mallori Phillips (Pate), Matthew Roncalli, and Haley Griffin; his great-grandchildren: Kade, Riley, Maggie, and Alex Nichols, Owen and Charlotte Nichols, Sloane and Liam Nichols, Isabella Phillips, and Alyssa Owens; his sister, Flurette Myers of Columbus, MS, his brother, VJ Griffin (Pat), of Cleveland, MS, two sister-in-laws: Brenda Griffin of Greenwood, MS, Barbara Griffin of Arkansas and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
